I just received news that Nobuo Iseri sensei (6th dan shihan, The Moving Centre, Ventura CA) has passed away last Friday evening after suffering a heart attack. Memorial services will be held on Sunday, January 6th at the Ted Mayr Funeral Home, 3150 Loma Vista Road in Ventura, with a reception following at the dojo. More information is available on the Moving Centre website. My condolences goes out to his family, friends, and loved ones.

I am sorry to hear that Iseri Sensei has died. I studied with him when I was in high school, years ago. Although I moved away from the area after that and I have not seen him since, I remember feeling that he was gentle, patient, and skilled. At the time, it was the only dojo available under the circumstances. Every dojo I had experienced had been a joy to study in, and his was no exception. I only learned later, after some lesser experiences, how fortunate I was.
