Re: It Had To Be Felt #21: Shibata Ichiro: A Lean and Hungry Look

Shibata was the SHIHAN who injured my shoulder in the account at http://www.aikiweb.com/forums/showthread.php?t=21023 .

You and I were there at the same time, I think. I never had any particular run-ins with Shibata, but I never threw him over, either .

The one thing that I appreciated was that he was the only instructor I saw at hombu that bothered to make sure that his instructions were translated into French and English (not all the time, just when there was something specific that he wanted to get across).

Best,

Chris

By way of explanation

These two posts could be viewed as conforming to the "letter" of the rules, but they lapse back in discussion forum style - a few lines, a response to the text above, and a little back and forth - in other words, a conversation between writers.

To reiterate, my goal is an archive of experience, the act of ukemi being both the physical experience of taking a fall, and of the personal relationship between oneself and a teacher, so that, ideally, twenty, thirty years down the road, people can avail themselves of this source and get an idea who these teachers were, and what it was like to be a student of them.

Hence my request that they be moved.

Best
Ellis Amdur
