I have just been informed that Walter Van Enck (6th dan), chief instructor of the Midwest Aikido Center in Chicago, IL, has passed away. My condolences go to his family, friends, students, and loved ones.

The following was posted on the Midwest Aikido Center's Facebook page:

"It is with a heavy heart that we announce the sudden passing of our friend, colleague, mentor, and Chief Instructor, Walter Van Enck.

"Walter dedicated his adult life to practicing and promoting aikido, both at the Midwest Aikido Center and various locales around the United States and the world.

"Although we feel sad and helpless at this time, we invite all to train at the dojo in the coming days to practice the art that Walter loved with others who cared about him.

"Our hearts and prayers are with Walter's family at this time."
