I like the hero narrative, but the society that produced such a story (and I don't draw a line between Korea and my home country of the USA) is at fault. The fact the boy can sing, doesn't make right the situation
that put a boy that would be otherwise thrown away in the heap of broken dreams into the spot light. The spot light is directed by the same quality of individual that allows the injustice which is being lit up at the moment.
We can be inspired by a spirit succeeding in the face of such adversity, but we can also question why such adversity exists.
or we can just watch TV and say, wow.
