Combat is usually defined something like "Finding, fixing and destroying the enemy." Much like the definition of pornography, if you've been in combat, you know it and don't have to waffle about a definition.

Such an interesting thread. Having been in some real fights I know enough to stay out of this one. Still being a newb to Aikido (5th Kyu) I can immediately tell which person has never been in a real fight during Randori sessions. Just as easily I can tell who has seen a scuffle or two because thier whole body mannerism is "come on what you got"
