Surely the members of the very respectable Aikido community aren't taking themselves too seriously....

There hasn't been a post in the humor forum since September?

Check out my post on the general forum about Jedi Knight Training and let me know what you think....

I think its 'cos the humour permeates everything we do (also look at the haiku site in chitchat).

Q:What grade aikidoka does it take to put in a lightbulb?

A:It depends whether it is a screw or bayonet fitting.

(my apologies, I made that up on the spur of the moment in an attempt to satisfy Elriks insatiable apetite for humour).

well I never!

Actually it's hardly insatiable, but I do know how not to take myself too seriously. In my life I have seen far too much death and pain, thus I do tend to take the lighter side.

When it counts, however, I can be as serious as a heart attack.

I am learning that most folks on this site have a good sense of humor, they just express it in thier other post.

For me, the funniest thing in Aikido can be when you show somebody a whopping flaw in their technique. Recently, a (helpful) more advanced student than I grabbed my wrist and flipped himself while I watched ("kokyonage"). He got horribly embarassed, but he'll pay more attention in the future.... And he'll do the same to me a thousand times.
Andrew.
