Here are a couple of "local" articles entitled
"Aikido teacher uses art to view conflict as disharmony" on Stephen Steger in Santa Maria, CA and
"Aikido program captures momentum" regarding Brad Manosevitz in Aspen, CO. Steger states, "Aikido looks at conflict as a place of disharmony, a place where we're not listening to one another, where we're not understanding one another's perspective, where we have a need that must be met but we're choosing a different way to meet that need." Manosevitz states, "The idea behind aikido is peaceful conflict resolution. Rather than block or stop the momentum, the philosophy is to get out of the way, let the punch go by and continue the momentum of the attacker. Through body movements in aikido that attack is redirected and neutralized."
