Kanji for Irimi

Hi there,

I noticed that people write irimi in two different ways:

入り身

or simply

入身

I looked into this a bit and found that the 'り' is the 'ri' in irimi. So does 入身 reads as something else? Or does it still read as irimi?

I'm just wondering what the pure kanji writing for irimi is.

Thank you.

Re: Kanji for Irimi

Hi James,

Either form seems to be acceptable and both read as "irimi" in its romanized form.

As a quick, non-scientific statistic, running a search on "入り身" 合気道 on Google's Japanese site returns 4,660 hits whereas "入身" 合気道 returns 5,560 hits.

Thank you for the explanation. Just what I wanted to know.
