Beginner classes at Hombu Dojo

Hi everyone,

being new in this forum, so first of all: Hello Everybody!

I have just begun to train Aikido, started in May this year. So far, it has been a great experience and I enjoy it so much (although I must say that it is probably the most difficult thing to learn, I have ever done). So far I haven't done any grades and thus have no Kyu yet.

Now I am planning to go to Tokio next year in February and want to train at Hombu Dojos "Beginner Classes". Does anybody here trained at the beginner classes or did you all go to the regular ones?

Is the beginner classes mainly about ukemi and walking on knees?

Best,

Coustan

I went to the regular ones because I had already been training for more than 10 years and had my black belt.

GO TO THE BEGINNER CLASSES!

Re: Beginner classes at Hombu Dojo

Hi,

thanks for your reply. I didn't plan to visit the regular classes anyway. I am just curious if somebody visited the beginner classes and what the level of training in those classes is.

Best,

C

Re: Beginner classes at Hombu Dojo

The regular classes are for 3rd kyu and up if my memory serves me correctly. I believe this is what I was told when I visited many years ago but I got permission from Doshu so that I could attend the regular sessions. My wife did the talking.
