Tohei Shihan, Founding Instructor of the Midwest Aikido Center, passed away on July 2, 1999 so this year marks the tenth anniversary of his passing. To commemorate this, the Midwest Aikido Center in Chicago will be hosting a special day of practice on Saturday July 11, 2009. We would like to invite you and your students to join us on this special occasion. This is not an official seminar and there will be no fee or registration. It is hoped that teaching duties on this day can be shared in an informal manner with a random, unplanned rotation of instructors each sharing a technique, based on who attends, as time permits. The schedule is as follows:
Saturday July 11, 2009
1:00pm - 2:30pm
2:45pm - 4:15pm
Complimentary pizza and drinks will be available afterwards. During the past ten years, our Aikido paths may have taken different turns, but in many ways we started in the same place and we are still striving for a similar destination. Thanks to Tohei Sensei we all have shared some time traveling on this road together. It is hoped that we can meet again on this day and celebrate a bit of our shared heritage in a manner that perhaps Sensei would have approved of: a Day of Practice on the Mat. We hope you can join us. Thank you.
