Gozo Shioda resting place

Hi all,

I'm in Japan this week and would like to pay my respects to Gozo Shioda. The anniversary of this death is this coming Sunday.

From searching on the Internet, I gather that his grave is in the Saitama province in a town called Tokorozawa. However, Google maps shows several cemeteries in that area.

Is the info about the town correct? Does anyone know where his resting place is?

i can read the Kanji of his name and there is also a picture of the stone on the Internet, so once I'd get to know which cemetery, I could circle in on it.

Any info is greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the help, Dan.

The video by itself was not that helpful, since I already had found those pictures before. However, Nick (the creator of the video) has posted detailed instructions towards the end of his blogpost: http://journeyoffootsteps.weebly.com...real-direction

You could always write to AYF honbu dojo and ask them, if you haven't already.

Nick had some real 'fun' finding his resting place. If you need direct contact information for him just pm me, he is a very helpful guy.

Re: Gozo Shioda resting place

Hi Dominic, I have found him via Facebook previously, to thank him for his blog entry, which made it relatively easy to get there. It probably would have been easiest to show the pictures to a local taxi driver and ask him to go there. But then hindsight is 20/20 and he mentioned in one of his posts that he was low on money at the time.

in the meanwhile, I have updated OpenStreetMap.org with the English name for the cemetery (Shin Tokorozawa Memorial Park) so future visits should hopefully be even easier. The coordinates are: 35.842702 139.476911. If you use the what3words app (good one to have in Japan) the words are: food.curable.flux

The grave has the number 3-4-18.

Small world isn't it! Will tell him about this at training tomorrow and thanks for updating openstreetmap, I am intending to visit when I am next out in January.
