4/30/2003 12:21pm [from Jun Akiyama]

Tom "Doc" Walker sensei of Titusville, Florida passed away on April 29th, 2003, at 6pm EST. He had been diagnosed with terminal cancer. Walker sensei held the rank of 5th dan and was the Association Director and chief instructor of Sand Drift Aikikai. His aikido career started in 1962 at age 27 under the instruction of George Wilson sensei. He had just celebrated his 69th birthday in January with a seminar at his Titusville dojo. My condolenses to his family, friends, and loved ones.

There is a wonderful eulogy written by Todd D. Jones on Walker sensei's passing on the Aikido Journal website:

It was with great sadness that I heard of Walker Sensei's passing. I was in his Dentist chair at the age of four and in his Dojo at the age of fourteen. Circumstances took me away from Titusville and Aikido over thirty years ago. Having recently joined a Dojo and restarted Aikido my thoughts naturally turned to Walker Sensei. The Sensei at my current Dojo told me that he was dying. I called Sand drift Dojo and spoke briefly with Walker Sensei that day. I am certain that there are a great many who will miss him. Tommy I will see you on the other side. Forgive me if I do not hurry. Todd D Jones Thank you for a wonderful eulogy.
