I was wondering if anybody new the state of Aikiwood.com? Have you ordered from them? Should I stick with Kim Taylor's SDK Supplies? Please let me know?

Re: Aikiwood still in business?

What about the website suggests that aikiwood.com is out of business? I have never heard of them, let alone used them, but google has no trouble finding them, and the website is still in existence.

I like the look of the interlayed woods.

If way to the better there be, it exacts a full look at the worst.

Actually, it can be a very dangerous affair to purchase from these people, if you pay careful attention to the site, the only way to contact is through email, that means no physical address or phone number, that means big trouble in case something goes wrong.

Re: Aikiwood still in business?

I wouldn't write them off because the business lacks those things. There probably is no physical address because they are probably hand-made items made at home. If you have questions, they probably can speak to you by telephone. A lot of people order by the Internet these days, it allows business such as this to be able to operate.

Speaking as a home based microbusiness: I don't publish my physical address or phone. ALL my custom business is done by email, and when folks need to know how to pay me or otherwise reach me, they get my home information via our email correspondence. I don't know of any business I"ve lost that way, and I guess I don't miss it, since my name and reputation (such as they are :-) ) are known in the aikido community.

Janet.

I understand the need to come forward to defend yourself, but I was just stating facts. I got robbed by aikiwood and when contacting the BBB the first thing they told me: no address? no phone? no claim!

Just take a look at Kim Taylor's store:

Sei Do Kai
44 Inkerman St.
Guelph Ontario
Canada N1H 3C5
519-836-4357
Email: kataylor@sdksupplies.com

looking back I have to admit it was my mistake to have disregarded so little details but I strongly discourage anybody to gameble away with their money and personal information in such way.

Still my best guess is that if your reputation is good, is because you don't fall into the same practices I witnessed coming from the business the TS was inquiring about.

Nestor, I hadn't realized you'd been "bitten." I totally understand your concerns - of course, there have been plenty of complaints about businesses with very public contact information but I agree your options were more limited in this situation.
