Re: Bujin Help Please :O)
Got my hakama on Friday! Wore it for the first time Saturday. It is heavier then the one that I was borrowing, but I am pleased with the weight. It sure is stiff though and the himo came undone once. It is like getting a brand new belt or something. The only thing I'm not sure of, is I don't see how the fit is any different from a normal hakama. I'm not saying that it doesn't fit me well, because it does, but I just don't see much difference in the way it fits.
Either way, I feel like I am learning to wear a hakama all over again because this one is stiff and two inches longer then my previous one.

Re: Bujin Help Please :O)
LOL I noticed the stiffness compared to my old one as well and also didn't really notice much difference in fit going form a traditional koshita to the aiki style. Mine is actually 2" shorter than the old one which is working nice for me. Once I started rolling around I totally forgot about it being stiffer and heavier than the old one.
We had a seminar this weekend at the dojo and the news about BuJin is still going around. Some didn't know some did and were sad and thinking about Ikeda sensei and wishing him well.

Re: Bujin Help Please :O)
Mine arrived few days ago (1 heavy cotton, 1 the lighter blend, both black).
I ordered them for dragging-the-floor length, figuring I could always get them hemmed shorter, if needed, or maybe try wrapping them around my belt (?). I have no immediate need of them, and they can't be returned if they don't fit right anyway, so I just put them (as they arrived, beautifully folded, and sealed in plastic) on the shelf for now. I don't dare start playing with them right now. LOL Some rainy day I'll get them down, and try to follow the included instructructions for wearing, and for folding. That ought to keep me out of trouble for a few hours.
I already have clothespins for hanging them, thanks to Janet's suggestion, above.

Well, this one isn't indigo. I haven't noticed any bleeding what so ever, which is nice. The thing I really like about it is that it is a deep blue. Looks a lot like the newer indigo hakama that some of the yudansha wear in my dojo. I'm hoping it won't take too long to make break it in and make it feel like home. For now, I feel as if I am strange territory.

Re: Bujin Help Please :O)
Have had trouble getting hakamas that fit here in Malaysia.
Managed to order and got my bujin hakama about 3 weeks ago before they closed. Opted for the 5 oz duck. Am very impressed with the fit, the hip measurements size really helped in the selection, and I was not dissappointed.
Followed the simple wshing instructions in this post and everything turned out well.
Too bad about Bujin closing down. I would have liked to order more stuff from them.

Re: Bujin Help Please :O)
A fellow who has been coming to train with us for the month said he asked Ikeda sesei if he will still have his bag of goodies with him in seminars. Apparently he will still, at least, be bringing his DVDs which I'm happy to hear. I'll be seeing him in Ohio in just a few weeks.
