Aikikai Website

I have been reading the websites of Aikikai Affiliated Aikido Dojos and I noticed that majority of them did not include the Aikikai Hombu Dojo website (www.aikikai.or.jp) in their links section. They always include the website of their national aikido organization, aikiweb, aikidojournal, online budo stores and etc. but not the website of the center of Aikido in the world.

Re: Aikikai Website

I seem to recall that our noble webmaster Jun was involved in creating (or revising) the Aikikai website. Am I mistaken?

By the way, there are also several aikido organization websites that neglect to put up a link to the International Aikido Federation website:

Re: Aikikai Website

As I am reading the thread, I believe the implied question is "why would Aikikai affiliated dojos not have a link on thier websites?" Rommel, please correct me if this is not your implied question.

I would put forth that perhaps for some dojos who practice aikikai style aikido they feel closer and have a more direct relationship to their national organization and the Sensei who leads it, and that the Aikikai is more of a grandparent relationship, more removed and less connected or personal. This proabably not the only explanation, but a possible one.

I did help them create their first website, but that was several years ago. I have had no responsibilities with their website since then.

Re: Aikikai Website

Our dojo is not affiliated to the Aikikai Hombu, but you'll find a link to them on our web site

A difficult problem is easily solved by asking yourself the question, "Just how would the Lone Ranger handle this?"

Phew! Your post made me check the website of my own dojo and I am relieved to find that we have links to the Aikikai and the main aikido forums, including AikiWeb. The Japanese national aikido organization (for the Aikikai, this is the All-Japan Aikido Federation) does not even have a website.

Best wishes,

P A Goldsbury

Re: Aikikai Website

We can found overseas' recognized organizations at there, but only one organization is recognized by Zaidan Hojin Aikikai in Philippines.

Funny Dalen But a lot of the so-called "affiliated" dojos believe they are superior to other Aikidokas courtesy of their papers.

Keep on training.

One-Aiki,

Iking
