Please! Dojo in Osaka!

Hello All

I started a thread a few months back mentioning that I will be on an exchange in Kyoto. However i recently found out of a change in host families and i have now been placed in the town of Moriguchi, Osaka prefecture. If anyone knows of a dojo in this area I'd really appreciate all the details you can give on it(I'm leaving for Japan in 4 days!). Any style is acceptable, I just wanna do some AIkido while I'm there! So any Dojos in or around Osaka, with possible directions, address and training times.Much appreciated!

Re: Please! Dojo in Osaka!

One of Suganuma sensei's students has a good dojo in Osaka. (All dojos under him are called Shohei Juku). They have to have a web site.

Also, I am under the impression that Abe sensei's dojo is in Osaka. I would check that out too.

There might also be a dojo under Endo sensei in Osaka but now I'm almost guessing (but check it out because I might be remembering correctly).

Good luck - Rob

The Shodokan (Tomiki) hombu dojo is in Osaka. It looks like directions and such are available here:

I'm sure Peter will pipe up with more information...

If I was in Osaka the top of my list would be definitely to check out Abe-sensei's dojo in the Osaka area (Suita).

Re: Please! Dojo in Osaka!

Shodokan Honbu is located in Osaka, at Showacho station and is quite easy to get to. It's closed from the 25th, and will be starting training again on Jan. 5th.

If you'd like to take a look, I'd suggest giving the dojo an e-mail . If your Japanese isn't too good, don't worry: one of the uchideshi speaks pretty good English.

Re: Please! Dojo in Osaka!

There is the tenshin dojo in Osaka, I just recently went to it, and found it a great place to do Aikido.. Its in Juso Osaka, under Miyako Fujitani (Seagal's ex-wife). They however do things a little different, but all in all its a great dojo where you can learn really good things.

The address is:
1-10-8 Higashi-Juso, Yodogawa-ku; Osaka
Style: Ten Shin Bugei

Please try and let me know how it goes.. again really great dojo!!

Enjoy, Cheers.

Re: Please! Dojo in Osaka!

My dojo is Himeji has three Kiwis but a little far for you. I do get up on most Sundays and of course Rob Hori (above post) lives there. Just click on the Shodokan link by my name - they have training times and maps.

I like after training Beer so if you want to meet up just let us know. It's always nice to connect with common interest when you move to a new place.

Re: Please! Dojo in Osaka!

I think I put it in the last thread, but Kobe is even closer to Osaka than Kyoto, it just depends on where in Osaka you are. I definately recommend Nakao Sensei at the Seibukan Dojo in Kobe, he is a direct student of Yamaguchi Sensei and one of the best I have had the pleasure to train with.

Details of location (Nr. Okayama subway station) and training times are on their web site

Bryan

A difficult problem is easily solved by asking yourself the question, "Just how would the Lone Ranger handle this?"
