Arrow Kobuki (Small Weapons) and Taijutsu Seminar in Toronto, August 12-13, 2023

Salahuddin Muhammad, generational gatekeeper and head of Hontai Hakkei Ryu Aikibujutsu, will be in Toronto, Ontario, Canada in August 2023 to teach a seminar on Japanese small weapons and taijutsu, drawing from the both ancient and contemporary methods of this neo-classical martial art.

The weekend seminar (which includes a Friday-evening demonstration) will be held on 12-13 August, and promises two intensive days of learning and training in the methods of tessen jutsu (iron fan), hishigi-jo (short "crushing" stick), and tanto jutsu (knife/dagger). There will be a focus on the weapon-body connection, as well as contemporary applications, while using classical and traditional principles that have spanned centuries.

This seminar offers the perfect complement to Aikido training, especially for practitioners who wish to add the use of small traditional weapons to their skill set. Tessen (iron fan), hishigi-jo, and even tanto (dagger/knife) all have non-lethal applications that enhance Aikido method and are beautiful to watch, too!
