Interesting it doesn't appear to include the Aikido Yoshinkan Shudokan Dojo of Sensei Ramland

Woei Kuan,

That doesn't matter, you should talk it to Ng Sensei not me. I like to giving you one more local Yoshinkan link here as below!

That's because Ramlan is not part of Sonny Loke's organization. He's affiliated with Joe Thambu and his uncle, Thamby Rajah. So I wouldn't expect to see him listed.

Both of the links posted previously are those belonging to Sonny Loke.

At least that is how I read it ...

I know about his affiliation with Sensei Joe Thambu and Master Thaby Rajah. But I still find it strange that, if he's affiliated to Yoshinkan, as indeed Sensei Joe is, why that would exclude him. The website implies 'all Yoshinkan dojos in KL. (Not that I've ever been there! - I'm just interested as a member of Shudokan Aikido in the UK.

Re: Yoshinkan Aikido in Kuala Lumpur

David,

I suppose you have a valid question. One you should take up directly with the parties involved.

I don't see the problem though. There are many organizations affiliated to the Yoshinkan that do not list every single Yoshinkan group or school in any said country. The websites are for Sonny Loke's organization and I read it as that is what they address. Maybe the wording could be changed, who knows.

Bottom line is, Ramlan is not part of Sonny's organization so there is no need to list them. Does the Shudokan list Sonny and all of his schools? Does Ramlan have my school listed? I'm Yoshinkan too?!?

Ramlan's website makes no mention of any other Yoshinkan school in Malaysia. My advise, don't loose any sleep over it. It's really not that big a deal really.

With a lot less light that might actually be mistaken for a reasonable argument. The point is this. Sensei Ramalan has a website advertising his own Dojo period. This website implies it's a list of ALL Yoshinkan Dojos in KL, which if it is specifically excluding Yoshinkan Dojo's does make it somewhat misleading.

However as I'm in the UK I will forllow you advise and not lose (too much) sleep over it.

That website is just listing of Sonny Loke's dojos in KL, not including AYS Dojo and Shoreikan Dojo although those dojo are located in KL too.

Don't lose any sleep about it. I've been to Malaysia a few of times to train with both Master Thamby and Joe Sensei, and I know Ramlan quite well. Sonny Loke is connected with Ramlan's dojo as well, but Ramlan is not part of his school, as he is from Shudokan Hombu from Master Thamby.

The Shudokan Hombu is Seremban, Malaysia.

Hi Tony

Hope all is well.

Glad to read your reply thread, this is not an arguement about Yoshinkan and independent or IYAF affiliated Shudokan. Aren't you from Nottingham Shudokan? How you become a Kenshinkai member?

Anthony

I'm NOT a member of Kenshinkai. It's simply that a website that appears (and I do emphasise the word appears) to be misleading brings out the Lawyer in me. And yes I am from Shudokan in Nottingham.

You are right my point was never about styles it was about 'information'. Hope that clears things up.

Re: Yoshinkan Aikido in Kuala Lumpur

David

Tony was talking to me!

Tony

Hi. I am Shudokan from Stratton Sensei and Thamby Sensei, but not from Nottingham. I am now with the Kenshinkai with Garry Masters Sensei. PM me if you want to know more. Kenshinkai is a Yoshinkan school that came from the Shudokan Institute of Yoshinkan Aikido in the mid-'80s.

I will always be Stratton Sensei and Thamby Sensei's Shudokan though!

Si

Si,

As I don't read Polish, please have the site administrator use the form on my site to send me the details of their dojo.

Thanks

That's why! I forgot already to told Dave that Shoreikan is located in somewhere of Kuala Lumpur too but not associated to Sonny Loke Sensei, i also wish that Dave has see IYAF dojos list in IYAF site.

Now, Shoreikan has it's own website.

Re: Yoshinkan Aikido in Kuala Lumpur

Wong,

I notice that you have put up a list of dojo in one of the forum websites. You have listed Ki Society to have dojo in Butterworth, Klang Valley, Melaka & JB. Who are instructors and their contacts?

Regards

David Y

Re: Yoshinkan Aikido in Kuala Lumpur

Formerly, AYS had 2 technical advisors were both Sonny Loke Sensei and Joe Thambu Sensei. Sonny Loke Sensei is now no longer related with AYS, so Joe Thambu is the sole technical advisor of AYS. Regarding Seremban Dojo, i'll ask either Farid or Ramlan Sensei about it future.
