Looking back I think my 3rd
kyu and 2nd
kyu gradings were harder physically on me than my 1st
kyu and
shodan tests. Presumably because I was in better condition (the tests were longer and harder as they went up in rank but my recovery times were quicker - 1-2 days as opposed to a week or more).
I have always been a nervous wreck for two weeks leading up to any grading - I mean an ominous dread like I'm going to my own execution...
After each test I thought to myself, "Why was I so worried about
that? But...next test time, I'd be just as bad...
Just train well at Aikido practice. Work on any techniques you have a problem with. Conduct your regular fitness training outside the dojo as per normal. Come test time you'l be ready - otherwise your sensei wouldn't be inviting you to test.
Remember that you are not being set up to fail...
