Did you get the regular or Ultra-light? Did the sleeves shrink?

Re: Gi advice (judo/bjj/aikido)
Ultra-light, they shrunk a little more then I liked. I ordered an A2. They are about 4 fingers from my wrist with the arms held out in front of me (sorry, measurements are at home). I prefer 2 fingers. Overall it fits very well and I plan to order another one. However, I am debating ordering a A3 and washing in warm to shrink it down.

I think I am going to order a HCK. I trained with a guy last night who had one on and liked it and I liked the look of it. I think he had a Standard Single. I was thinking about either getting that, or a Competition Single or the Hot Weather. Do you guys have any suggestions between those three?
Thanks,
Stephen

Re: Gi advice (judo/bjj/aikido)
Here's a question - anyone know of a Judo gi that is cut shorter than "usual" - I don't want one down to my knees....?

Been trying, believe me. Not that easy to find. The Isami light-weight was one, but I didn't like the fit and sold it on eBay....

I understand they're hard to find too!
How unadorned do you need it? the HCK BJJ gis are relatively unadorned.

HCK would be alright but I don 't know how they fit anymore. When I was doing BJJ, 8 to 10 years ago, Howard was just starting out. I wore all of his gis (except the Absolute) but they fit really tight. Now I hear that they are baggier. Also, the collars were huge back then. Any idea what the fit is like now etc.? Ever tried an HCK Judo gi?

Re: Gi advice (judo/bjj/aikido)
Right now I ordered a Judo uniform. In comparison to my lighter gi, I have seen fellow Aikidoka at my Dojo using them and I have to say I like the Judo gi better.

Re: Gi advice (judo/bjj/aikido)
Judo gi wise, I'm a big fan of the Mizuno Eurocomp. Very nice.

Re: Gi advice (judo/bjj/aikido)
Just got a Fuji single weave Judo gi. I like it. Very well-made, and the jacket isn't down to the knees. Haven't worked out in it yet but I think it's going to be a keeper. I'd get a Fuji BJJ gi as well, but the logo on the arms and back are too big for my liking. The Judo gi has none.
I have a Masterline Judo gi on the way, someone is tailoring it for me, making the jacket shorter.
Still waiting for Sirius to be in stock. After that think I'm done for a while.

Re: Gi advice (judo/bjj/aikido)
Dang! I thought I bought a lot of dogi!
I am currently wearing a Toraki Premium weight:
http://www.toraki.com/us/en/asp/dept...CTS.asp?id=200
This is one of my favorite gi I've had. It is between a single and double for thickness. The collar is not too thick, but is pretty stiff compared to my Mizuno Kano.
I love the cut of this dogi post shrinkage. I hate the long skirts and over-bagginess on typical Judogi, but I also dislike the too short skirts and think the sleeves tend to be too long on BJJ kimono. I wanted a good cross over gi that I could wear to either practice, and the Toraki is it for me.
Some very light embroidery.
Also wearing a Sirius, which for a BJJ gi I love.
I have a Mizuno Kano gi, worn only about a dozen times, available for cheap!! Hint! Hint!
Lost some weight since I bought it, and wanted that crossover gi, and the Kano gi, while a light and pleasantly soft double weave (softer than the Toraki, and the collar is softer than either), the cut is a little too long on me.

Re: Gi advice (judo/bjj/aikido)
Hi Kit - how long is the Kano gi jacket? What size? How much thicker than the Toraki is it?
Which Sirius do you have?

Its a 4.5. It is only a but thicker than the Toraki, the collar is thinner, and the overall gi is appreciably softer than the Toraki.
Here's a pic of me in it:

Re: Gi advice (judo/bjj/aikido)
Hi - if you want to send me the pic:
aiki1@earthlink.net
How much are you thinking of asking for the Kano gi? It's in "new" condition? Just curious. I don't like a really long jacket either. How tall are you?
Thanks.

I just got my HCK BJJ single in last night. After the inital shrink, it fits me just about perfectly (size 4, i'm 5'6ish and 160ish). It's surprisingly roomy in the chest and armpit area, actually. The collar, compared to my Hsu Judo gi, it's absurdly thick.
