How do you correctly state a dan rank in your CV?

Hi all from Cologne,

meanwhile I have searched a lot and could not find an answer to this question.

Background: I am working on a workshop about Aikido principles in management/everyday's life. Now I'm struggling with my profile in English and I'm wondering how you would state your Aikikai dan rank correctly.

something like "Aikido practitioner since 20XX, rank: 3rd dan Aikido, Aikikai Hombu Dojo, Tokyo, Japan"?

I know this is silly, but sadly certificates sell - especially in Germany

Grateful for your feedback,

Björn

Most people do not know what "dan" means, so might I suggest, "Sandan (3rd degree black belt) from the Aikikai Hombu Dojo, Tokyo, Japan".

I've seen - for example 3rd degree black belt or 3rd Dan (Black belt) used.
Both seem to work

Re: How do you correctly state a dan rank in your CV?

International Regulations, Article 2:
The Aikikai Foundation Aikido World Headquarters shall be referred to hereinafter as the Hombu.

So I wouldn't use Hombu Dojo, just Hombu.
But who cares about the correct designation, most people don't even know what a dan rank is, or even what Aikido is.

In my opinion, much more important is the teaching line and the time of practice.

Thanks for your replies!

Right now Jim's version appeals most to me.

"Sandan (3rd degree black belt) from the Aikikai, Aikido World Headquarters, Tokyo, Japan"
