Any yudansha in (or around) southampton UK?
i have a proposition for you! southampton solent does not have an aikido club and currently there is no aikido club located in the city centre. i propose to set up market and generally week to week 'run' the club, the university allocates a bursary to those starting new societies which i intend to pour straight back into the club vastly subsidising or hopefully eliminating training fees. use of the university facilities is free provided the slot is free, and to the best of my knowledge there are gymnastics mats available to use.
basically all i need is a sensei (kind of integral!), im a 2nd kyu studying for about four years under 7th dan Bill Harris, should be on target for first kyu early next year at which point i could do a coaching course and assist more thoroughly.
i dont really want to get into the 'politics' of aikido (we all know its there!) thats why id really like to help start up a laid back club who can have a few pints afterwards. i understand its an absolute mission to start up a club from scratch and it can often fail but im willing to give it a go and ill do all the boring stuff if you wanted so all youd have to do is have fun and teach!
if your up for it or know someone who might be please reply i would really appreciate it!
p.s. if your mudansha (sub dan grade) and you might be up for it reply too even if it doesnt happen would be nice to have a pint and chat aikido nonsense for a few hours! :P
