new 2 vancouver

Hi I am new 2 Vancouver and new 2 Aikido. My back ground is in JKD and 7* mantis. Have checked out severial schools in the Van. area and I am lost at what school 2 join. There is a school in my area at Kerrisdale Community Centre, it's an independent school called Isshinkan and is run by John Zitnik?? Anyone have any info on this school/style/teacher??All the schools I have checked out look good and all the head teachers all look impressive, so I am at a lost where 2 join? I am looking for a school that is friendly and the instructors are very knowledgeable and supportive. Cheers, Frank.

Shohei Juku Aikido Canada
Check out Tama Nakashimada Sensei at the Trout Lake Community Center. She is a very old friend and a student of Suganuma Sensei whom she hosts once a year.

I agree with George. When I was planning a trip to Vancouver my sensei (Linda Holiday) had VERY high praise for Tama sensei at Shohei Juku Aikido. I never made the trip, but plan to stop there next time I do.

Robert Mustard runs a Yoshinkan dojo in the area. He's a fine man, and, I believe, one of the best practitioners of aikido - of any style - in the world.
