Re: Tetsutaka Sugawara: Aikido and Taiji
Thank you for the post (and actually, for the blog in general - great stuff!)
Sugawara Sensei comes to the Santa Rosa area every year - I had to miss this autumn because of overwhelming family issues but enjoyed his class very much in 2012 and hope to catch more of his classes when he returns.

Does he ever specifically teach the aiki taichi series or the kaishiwaza katas? They're not that easily gleaned from the videos alone.

I don't know - the last time that I saw him was in 2003, when the Taichi series had just been created, and I never really trained with him in Aikido - my connection was through Hasegawa and Katori. Some of the California folks could probably tell you, he gets down there every year, I think.
Best,
Chris

Re: Tetsutaka Sugawara: Aikido and Taiji
This is great stuff. Thanks Chris!
Do you by any chance know a good Aikido instructor on the East Coast? I live in New Jersey.
I am learning Chen style hunyuan Taiji now, but I think Aikido would be a complementary art that I would like to explore down the road.

I'm not that familiar with the landscape in New Jersey, but if you catch Dan Harden when he's down there in March there should be someone who can give you information on the kinds of places that you would probably be interested in if you're coming from a Chen perspective.
Best,
Chris
