Carnegie Mellon aikido schedule?

Does anyone know if there is still aikido at Carnegie Mellon University? The website has a schedule from 2007, but I was hoping not to brave Pittsburgh traffic only to find out that they changed or disappeared... Does anyone here train there or could tell me when classes are? Now that school has calmed down, I was hoping to check out some of the dojos in my new area...

Thanks!

Re: Carnegie Mellon aikido schedule?

Ohh I don't think there is one at the collage anymore but you should really come see us. Dojo is Allegheny aikido in Squirrel hill. Schedule is Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday at 7:00 pm. More info on the website www.alleghenyaikodo.com

There are two other dojos I am aware of. Aikido of Pittsburgh and another I forget the name of that is in Green Tree.

No doubt sensei, Garth Jones ,will be along eventually to answer for sure about the collage.

Re: Carnegie Mellon aikido schedule?

I'm not sure if the Carnegie Mellon aikido is still there. As for others in the area, I put some info below. I keep meaning to visit them, too, as I'm in the area, but freeing up time has been tough.

Allegheny is already mentioned.

The Green Tree aikido is:
Pittsburgh Yoseikan Aikido
Parkway Center Mall 1165 Mckinney Lane; Pittsburgh, PA 15220
http://www.pghya.com
http://www.pghya.com/class.htm

Aikido of Pittsburg
401 Butler Street, Etna, PA 15223
http://www.aikidopittsburgh.org/
http://www.aikidopittsburgh.org/classes.php

There's one more that I forgot to mention and I don't know if it's still there or not:
Kokikai Aikido PGH
Wilkins School Community School, Charleston St. and Braddock Ave. Pgh 15218
http://www.kokikai.org/directoryDetail.php?recID=27

Re: Carnegie Mellon aikido schedule?

Three Rivers Aikikai at Carnegie Mellon University is still alive and well. I don't know their entire schedule, but they do have classes on Sunday mornings starting at 10 or 10:30 until noon (as far as I know). You may find an undergrad checking IDs at the door. Tell them you are there for aikido and they should let you in. The head instructor is Klaus Sutner (5th dan) and he is very good.

As Cherie and Greg said, you are more than welcome to train with us at Allegheny Aikido as well (www.alleghenyaikido.com).

Cheers,
Garth

See, I don't show up and the newbie does! Ah well, I was practicing my nap-waza and it turned into a multi-hour practice.... EEP!

Glad you had fun though!

Aw man, I knew he was teaching but I didn't know we were having the Anti-Gravity class!

And here's me not going to be there for a week. I bet you learn the secret of aiki while I'm gone and it will never be taught again.
