Interview with Aikido Shihan Yasuo Kobayashi - Part 2

New blog post! Interview with Aikido Shihan Yasuo Kobayashi - Part 2: "There are some who criticize Aikido practice as being watered down, and even I don’t deny that. However, if we put that aside, I think that the fact that it has been able to attract those who had no previous interest in budo is an achievement. "

Enjoy!

Chris

Re: Interview with Aikido Shihan Yasuo Kobayashi - Part 2

I had the privilege of meeting Kobayashi Soshihan a couple of months ago when he conducted a seminar in San Diego. He visited our dojo in Vista and spent a couple of hours with Ken MacBeth Sensei and a number of our senior students. With him was Stephen Toyoda Sensei, President of AAA and Kasahara Sensei.

This was very informal and social visit and I frankly expected him to be a rather distant sort of person. On the contrary, he was warm and friendly, full of laughter and just a really nice individual. His personality was so very obvious and inviting. I don't mean to sound disrespectful, but he is simply a nice guy and fun to be around. It was a honor to spend time with him that evening. Oh yeah, his aikido is pretty darned impressive too.
