help with choice of bokken !

Hiya, We are starting practising with weapons in our classes and am looking to buy a bokken, but there are so many!!. Can anyone explain for example the difference between a Jigenryu bokken and a Onoha bokken , i know that the Onahao is slightly more curved and also ways a little less but are they the only differences?
Thanks in advance

Re: help with choice of bokken !

I believe the Ono ha Itto Ryu bokken is just a bit shorter than the Satsuma Jigen Ryu bokken. Which one you get really depends on what you will be using it for and your tradition. The Iwama style aikido bokken may be appropriate if that's your affiliation.

Not to dismiss your question, but the best answer for this type of question is "ask your sensei".

Re: help with choice of bokken !

It really doesn't matter which bokken you begin with; chances are you won't stay with it and you will try other style bokkens as you go. Most beginners just follow their instructor.

In gassho,
Mark
