"The White Mouse" dies at age 98

Nancy Wake, a true Woman Warrior, who trained and led a large number of Maquis in occupied France, organized and led a number of daring raids, saved hundreds of lives and generally drove the Nazis crazy, while drinking hard and keeping her Chanel lipstick on. They don't make them like this anymore....

Thanks. Out of all the movies they make today, why can't they make one based on real people like her! Thanks for sharing this Janet.

Kevin, it's not about her, but for a wrenchingly suspenseful, unflinchingly unsentimental account of the Resistance you cannot possibly do better than Jean-Pierre Melville's "Army of Shadows" his 1969 film based on his experiences. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0064040/
Lino Ventura and Simone Signoret star. I cannot recommend this movie highly enough.

Dear Janet,
This lady was and remains a true heroine. Her list of achievements and medals gained during her active service is truly wonderful. The White Mouse was described by others as a force of nature. We all owe her a debt of gratitude for her work during the second world war.May she be remembered as a courageous woman.May she R.I.P.
With much respect, Joe.

Joe, it's a funny thing how we view history. My mom, a New Yorker who was in her mid-teens for WWII, has never forgiven the French for surrendering and for the actions of the Vichy govt. For me, the very courageous and life-sacrificing wartime exploits of the Resistance have always been an inspiration and a reminder of how among "common people" one never knows whonwill rise to the occasion (certainly GB had her share too! both decorated and unheralded
