I understand this one has been idle for some time, but I don't see that anyone else has touched on this.

Re: Advertising for your local dojo!

Last April Folls Day I ran an ad for my dojo's beginner class that read "let US kick your ass and take your milk money." I got a lot of laughs, and one student.

Also, "Here to Harmonize you Ugly" .

Relax!
Relax upper body, drill very fluently your feet to the ground (why not like Jaxon 5! hahah)
Relaxing upper body, opens the holly dor of FEELING!
Feeling opens the mighty garden of Others
Others help you to find your self, TRULY!
This shared truth, puts everybody in best state of heart to STUDY the mystery of this amazing WAY; technically, it puts in best state of mind to find the "Cotton point" (somehow like Archimed point!) where very little strengh is necessary to break partner balance, drive his Center trough the shared flow of Ki!
This shared truth brings joy and warm light sharing... the rest is question of time, but the journey then get one clear feet in paradise!!!....
Hahahaha

Enjoy my friends, poetry, love, friendship, Aikidô...
Enjoy!

The art of hitting people with planets.

Or one I'd like: Aikido - frequent flyer miles included

Haven't got a club Tshirt yet, may have to see if I can talk them in to it

We call aikido a spiritual discipline, but even we who practice it can have pretty dirty minds.

I laughed out loud, though.

Re: Advertising for your local dojo!

You put your left hand in
You take your left hand out
You put your left hand in...

And Sensei grabs hold of it, lifts you 5 feet off the ground, throws you over his head to land 10 feet away

...that's what it's all about.

Re: Advertising for your local dojo!

i love reading this thread, though i managed to recruit a new guy to our Uni Ju Jitsu club by wearing one of my aikido t-shirts 'Aikido - Human Origami' he studied aikido before moving for uni so he got the joke
i haven't had anymore nuggets of inspiration though so i'll stop taking up space now

Re: Advertising for your local dojo!

One problem I would have with heavy referencing to Ukes in aikido T-shirts...

The 'yaoi' fandom has co-opted the word VERY heavily. And that is one fandom I want to stay as far away as possible. Althought they might get a kick out of watching aikido practise...

Of course, "Uke - it's not just for pretty boyas" could get them curious....
