Against one hour classes

Something to consider for your dojo:

Make classes longer.
There are obvious reasons which I won't list but here's one less obvious one:

In many places, especially big cities, it takes a long time to get to the dojo, and the return trip can often be longer than the training itself (plus it costs gas money or fares).

If that relation between travel time and commute is out of whack your dojo loses members or has lower attendance.

Re: Against one hour classes

Another thing that can be done is: Have a 1 hour class, but have time afterwards for free training. If you just spent an hour mostly helping beginners, then afterwards you can grab someone more senior for more intense work, for example. This does assume that there is someone after class to train with.

Naturally having something useful to say is like natural responses during training: It takes much practice.

Re: Against one hour classes

Basic recreational training includes at least an hours and a half of continuous training at least three times a week. Anything below that is substandard physical activity.
