Interpretation; In the beginning (O Sensei)
I woke up this morning and dread the thought of going over to the Dojo to train, most of these guys are so full of macho BS. I think its time to make my own path, and no longer follow in the footsteps of others.
I have amassed so many notes from all of my training, not to mention a lot of my own ideas, but what will people think of me? it will take me forever to compile a formal syllabus, what will I call it?
will I get any students, or will I just pass it on to my son?or will it die with me. I hope it don't upset the other Dojos around town.
some time passes
Well look what I got in the mail today! that big so and so from the Karate Dojo, and another from the Kendo school, and yet another from the jujitsu mob across town. I guess I'll have to respond.
Dear Big Tam, Bob, and Joe
Got your letters, do we really have to fight? your all a lot bigger than me and half my age, Just because some of your students have now joined my Dojo, surely we can still be buddies.
Even if we do fight, and you kick the S*** out of me, does that mean what I am teaching my students is ineffective?
What if I choose swords rather than hand to hand, and you or both of us die in the process, what will it have achieved?
I respect anyone who dedicates themselves to following in someone elses footsteps, but hey I dont want to do that anymore, I want to create something new, something different, is that a crime?
If it will make you happy, would you mind if I invited you over to demonstrate for my students, I would be happy to return the favour.
Im so busy ensuring my students become as good as or better than me, so I dont get to train as much.
Do you think that is a good idea?
PS what do you think of the name I choose for my concept, I called it Aikido.
Maybe we could talk some more next time we go fishing, like we used to, before this pointless arguement started.
THIS IS NOT INTENDED TO OFFEND ANYONE,
Just trying to imagine what he would go through, to get his efforts accepted by those who knew nothing about Aikido.
