m(_ _)m

In an attempt to "lighten up" this thread a bit, here are some remarks made by Jun.

I don't know if it's just me, but whenever I run into them, they just crack me up. They're not as funny when seen here in isolation, but are hilarious in a serious thread.

-----
That would be "ashi." "Kashi" can refer either to "oak" or "confectionary." Unless there's some kind of set of techniques involving the two...
-----

------------------------------------------------------------------------
I never knew that Ikebana, which is the art of Japanese Flower arranging, was considered a Martial art.
------------------------------------------------------------------------

You've obviously never stepped on a kenzan...

----

My teacher enjoys making hakama but he hasn't pressured me into doing any sewing...

----

a lot of people starting up in a martial art take more time choosing the kind of breakfast cereal they want at the supermarket than they do in choosing a dojo.

----

"How long would it take to get a black belt?" 15 minutes -- just drop by the martial arts store on the corner.

----

Jun, keep them coming.

By the way (or was that BTW?), has anyone figured out my emoticon?

m(_ _)m

It's authentic Japanese. Pretty obvious, actually.

Sorry Jim,

Don't know what that emoitcon is probably because like you, "I have no desire to become fluent in Japanese." And with this forum being in English, maybe we could keep it to just that. I mean, "I have no problem respecting the art and the Japanese people, but I speak English. Let's not add another layer of difficulty to aikido" um, I mean this thread...I guess I quote people too much.
I thought that emoticon was you mooning everyone...but I guess that would be more like this:
m(_|_)m
But I guess the only real reason for this post was not to be funny, but to...

...then again, that's just me.

Trust me, it was funny.

But as far as the Japanese language goes ... ah, I'll ignore that dig.

I was reading an article about the information age getting friendlier and in it were a few Japanese imoticons. They were showing how different they were to western ones.

And m(_ _)m was not an ass, but someone bowing: two hands, top of person's head (looks quite different depending on the typeface).

I still like yours though ... your emoticon, that is.

Jim,

That's what I figured it may have been, the bowing. But when you said it was Japanese, I thought it might actually look like a symbol; None of which I know or recognize, or at this point have a huge deisre to. I guess I'm not growing then, I'm dying.
