Hasten Slowly

This week is my 4th week, and I am loving it.

Although I am new, my sensei says that I am rolling reasonably well with confidence. And that is the problem - I have more confidence than ability.

Sensei explained that he sees that I am keen, but to hasten slowly. It is obviously good advice, but I just want to be a good student and work with my more experienced aikidoists; to be a good uke and a safe tori.

I can't believe that sensei lets me work with the various forms so early in my time there. To see the grace and power of kate tori shomen uchi ikkyo and do it with the others makes me feel exhilerated.

I am sure many of you would agree that their sensei is wise - and mine is no exception. Everybody is delightful.

Re: Hasten Slowly

Congratulations on your enthusiasm. It is a good thing to see what you have accomplished. Yet, it is a better thing to keep sight of what you have not.
