Uke seems a bit passive for my liking but absolutely brilliant technique, congrats!

They're all screaming about the rock n roll, but I would say that it's getting old. - REFUSED.

Re: 3rd dan examination video

As everyone else has said, very cool test.

Secondly... the older gentleman with the beard who is speaking throughout the videos... is that Luqman Hakeem Sensei? I ask because my instructor is a student of his. Its cool to see other students of his!

(at least I'm assuming their his students?)

sorry, to clarify: Irvin Faust of Albany Aikido in Albany, New York is my instructor. My understanding was that he trained with Luqman Hakeem sensei in the late 1970s through the 1980s, before moving to Albany in 1986.

Very very good. I can see the flow in waza.
I believe you practiced hard and nice under good sensei.
By the way have you seen Shinichi Kaneko sensei (from Japan) ?

You can see his photo from NEWS of below website.

Re: 3rd dan examination video

First, thank you for sharing your test. It is a great training aide for those of us still facing those moments in our Aikido journeys. You show great courage to place your performance out there for public scrutiny. I also believe that your performance was exemplary. I'm sure in hindsight you see moments that you would have performed differently but my understanding of the purpose of dan testing is that you are given the opportunity to display the Aikido spirit through the execution of Aikido technique. You remained calm, focused and well postured throughout an extremely grueling examination. Bravo. I hope to train with you one day and benefit from your knowledge. Kudos.

Nice test. I see that you've added more parts of the video too. Will have to watch and watch these many times. Thank you very much. Would love to know if there is a place I can download the video other than YouTube (I prefer having .avi on my desktop.)

Re: 3rd dan examination video

thanks for posting...I have used your test videos along with aikido 3d and the list of requirements for advancement (as set by M.I.T) to help further me in my aikido lessons. (Im a beginner taking lessons in Hungary...in a language I dont understand)

Again, its good to be able to watch your moves, to help me get the gist of how to properly execute the moves.
I noticed your are always holding your hands in front of you (kind of extended) before and after your start. - Think thats something I need to work on a bit. (all in good time, my 10th lesson will be today.)

Peace

Dalen

Shinichi Keneko Sensei taught us here at FRS Aikido in Salè (Maroc) for a few months this year. He is currently back in Japan; I'm not sure if he is coming back or not. He is a wonderful instructor, and we all miss him.
