Re: If you could have a magic door...
Hopefully one that I could direct from one to the next as the notion takes me. Please don't forget the time travel feature, for obvious reasons.
I'd like it painted black.

Seibukan dojo in Kobe.
Since I have no magic door though, have to rely on my annual pilgrimage to Kobe, fast approaching in April .

The dojo where Takeda taught Ueshiba. A front row seat during "warmups."

Re: If you could have a magic door...
I, too, would want one that would move me through time, not just space.

Re: If you could have a magic door...
Back in time to between 1945 and 1955 so I can train with O'Sensei and some of his students like Chiba, Kanai, and A. Tohei. Don't know if I'd make it back and if I did, what kind of shape I'd be in!

Into the future, at that dojo where the future "osensei" is just learning/acquiring that key basic or principle that blows his/her ignorance apart in one glorious moment of creative energy and insight.

Re: If you could have a magic door...
I definately feel comfortable and love where I train now.
But if I had a door which also travels through time I would love to go and follow O'Sensei when he would sneak in the woods with his sword to secretly train...would want to watch every single one of those "mystical" training.
(If I am not wrong that area is still closed today, it has no access to anyone.)

Re: If you could have a magic door...
This is not exactly an answer to the question, but it's similar in the hypothetical wishful thinking..
I wish I had a holo-deck, star trek style, where i could summon up an exact replica of any aikido figure or other martial arts great teachers and get private tutoring from them. Or at least get hit on the head with a bokken and see an O'sensei vision.

Re: If you could have a magic door...
I'd build a magical dojo where all the great masters of judo, jiujitsu, aikido, boxing, mauy thai, catch wrestling, stick fighting, etc could come and give me private lessons 8 hours a day.
