My Aiki expo 2003 budget

Hi Everyone,
I'm looking at going to Aiki expo 2003 and I'm trying to get an idea of relative cost, so I can save up and work out my budget etc.
I know how much the expo itself costs, I have a while to work on getting cheap flights.
I'm just wondering what the average price of accomodation is and transport to and from the dojo.
So, those of you who have been to an expo, any info you can give me, would be very helpful.

Thanks in advance!

Kev,

If you are looking for cheap flights from the UK to the USA I have always found ebookers.com to be consistently the cheapest. I have been to Vegas a few times, though not for the Expo and I'm afraid to say that the flights are more expensive in September than other times. As far as cabs go you are looking at the same price in dollars as you would pay here pretty much. If you are heading out that way I would definitely advise going to the Grand Canyon and Hoover Dam if you can manage it.

If you are looking at staying at one of the bigger hotels a good website to see whats on and what they offer is www.cheapovegas.com although I wouldn't book through that site it has a lot of info on it.

Hope this helps,

Ed

Thats Great Ed! Thanks!

Doesn't have the hotel prices though, unfortunately.

If I do make it, I dont think I could go and not see the Grand Canyon. its an opportunity not to be missed

There's information on hotels which are near the venue (which is located on the University of Nevada at Las Vegas) here:

http://www.aikidojournal.com/expo/accomodation.asp

I stayed at the Amerisuites (about a five minute walk) last year for a bit less than the advertised price through Aiki Expo as a friend of mine reserved the room before Aikido Journal had their "special" price. It's always worth checking out to see if the hotel itself has any kind of Internet or other discount price outside of what's being offered/advertised.

Hope that helps.

Kev,

You may be best trying to get a flights and accomodation deal together. EBookers (I don't work for them honest!) have one at the moment staying 5 nights at Circus Circus for £325 but this is valid for depatures in the first few weeks of December only. The flights will probably cost more than that alone in September. Still you could win the Megabucks while you are out there and none of this matter then!

The Universtity of Nevada at Las Vegas (UNLV) is, I believe, on the east side of the city. It's a fair ways away from the main thoroughfare ("The Strip"). The only "major" hotel which is within walking distance away from it is the Hard Rock Cafe Hotel. I think Circus Circus is about two to three miles away from the Aiki Expo venue (so it'll probbaly require a taxi ride at the minimum)...
