Shodothug at large in Greater Toronto Area

Hi All,

I will be in the Greater Toronto Area (Mississauga) for a while and since there are no local Shodothug feeding grounds (for now) I guess I will have to fill my Aiki training needs elsewhere.

Can anyone recommend a good dojo? I've used the dojo search tool so I know I have options, just wondering if there were any Aikiweb folk who could give some inside info. Dojo accessible via public transit preferred.

Happy training.

I only know of the Yoshinkan Windsor dojo, but that's 4 hours away from you. Sorry.

Larry,
The Kimeda dojo is located at 399 Yonge Street in Toronto. If that's to far away, you can try Mills Sensei's dojo, Sendokan, which is in Mississauga. As far as public transit, your best bet will be the Kimeda dojo, which is steps from the TTC.

Thanks Joseph.

Should be heading to Yonge Street this week on business so I can do some recon and locate the dojo.

Do you train there? What is the environment like? Are they welcoming to non-Yoshinkaners?

Thanks for the info.

Larry,
Everyone is welcome at the Kimeda dojo. You can find it at the corner of Yonge Street and Gerrard. Get off at the College subway station and walk south until you hit Gerrard Street. The dojo is just above Barclays.

Joe

I'm a nidan currently at the dojo. The environment is excellent.

Thanks for the info. I think I'll be visiting very soon.

I'll drop an e-mail to the dojo to finalize things first.

I see you have Iaido and Jodo too. Very nice.

Be seeing you.

Larry,

A quick note - You may want to call rather than email. Kimeda sensei doesn't handle the website nor receive any of the emails. A phone call is a better way to let him know you are planning on dropping in and would like to train.

Cheers,

Dan
Also a member of Kimeda sensei's dojo.

Re: Shodothug at large in Greater Toronto Area

Larry,

Joe and I mentioned to Kimeda Sensei that "someone from Trinidad" would be dropping by and that you would like to train. He said it would be fine to join in. Let Sensei know that you are the guy we were talking about.

The dojo is hard to find for a place that is right downtown. The building is on the north east corner of yonge and gerrard. The entrance is on Gerrard. Look up - we are on the second floor.

Michael

If I was spending time in Toronto I'd be sure and stop by Vladimir Vasiliev's Systema school. http://www.russianmartialart.com
