Aikido against machete attacks?

Hey there,

Just to know, if attacked by someone with a machete, what would be best as defense between Aiki-Ken and Aiki-Tanto?

Best wishes,

Christian

aiki-glock or aiki-ak47 at 50 paces. if don't know any of that, then aiki-runaway would be the best choice.

I meant if I had no other choice than Aiki Ken or Aiki Tanto.

If you were attacked by a machete, under what possible circumstances could "Aiki Ken or Aiki Tanto" be your only option? It's an artificially constrained situation; you might as well ask us whether Superman could beat up Batman.

i can see the circumstances that you get attack by a craze macheter, for example, you haven't paid your landscape person for more than 3 months. after the first month, your gardener might do this to your garden https://fineartamerica.com/featured/...ine-patti.html, but after the 3rd month, the machete comes out.

of course, now you have commit the ultimate sin of bring up Batman vs Superman. forget the machete. we are talking about world war 4 and 1/2. we are talking about death star and the shwartz. the end of mankind or at least comic-con. this is worst than discussing religions!

If you are attacked by someone with a machete, it will probably be your last day ...

Re: Aikido against machete attacks?

Most machete attacks will be slashing attacks, not stabbing attacks, due to the nature of the machete. Vertical down and horizontal attacks will be most common due to the ergonomics of using a machete. Aikido has arts for dealing with these kinds of attacks; ask your instructor. Too far away and too close are the limitations of a machete attack.
