Thumbs down Iwama in the summertime...

Just wanted to remind everybody that Spring is beginning to ... well .. spring ... in Japan and Iwama, though it is snowing at the moment, will start to warm up shortly. Good time to start planning for a summer stay as uchideshi!

Re: Iwama in the summertime...

Lee --

Training was great when I arrived last April and has improved steadily since then. There are two regular training sessions Tuesday through Sunday (weapons in the morning and taejutsu in the evening) and numerous short seminars throughout the year with double the training sessions. We train predominantly at the Tanrenkan dojo though Sensei teaches Thursday nights at the Iwama Budokan (community center).

I haven't been training as much as I would like to since I live about an hour away -- but starting next month I'll be moving to Iwama itself and will be able to train at LEAST once a day -- maybe twice if I'm lucky.

And yes, I noticed the spring feeling the last two days -- hope it lasts through the weekend, might make a trip down to Tokyo...
