The Kevin Sparkman Fund

Posted 2005-05-10 10:53:53 by Jun Akiyama
News URL: http://www.shindai.com/home.htm

Kevin Sparkman Sensei, a friend and brother of Shindai Dojo, and one of Dennis Hooker Sensei's first students has recently been diagnosed with inoperable brain cancer. The tumor has already robbed Kevin Sensei's ability to work. Shindai Dojo is coordinating a fund with Kevin's family to assist this dedicated martial artist on the greatest challenge of his life. Kevin's mother has set up a fund with Bank of America in the name of Kevin J. Sparkman.

Seminars will be held throughout the community surrounding Kevin in the months to come, with proceeds going toward his care. Please watch this website along with the Shindai Aikikai, Aikido Journal and the ASU web site for announcements. If you can spare the time please consider participating for the training and the expression of the true spirit of Aiki.

The first seminar will be sponsored by the North Florida Aikikai on June 3, 4 & 5 2005 with Dennis Hooker Sensei.

The second Seminar will be sponsored by the Shindai Dojo with George Ledyard Sensei on June 17, 18 & 19, 2005.

If you wish to make a personal contribution please make checks payable to Shindai Aikikai and reference the Kevin Sparkman fund on the notation line. Mail the checks to:

Shindai Aikikai Aikido Dojo,
C/O Kevin Sparkman Fund;
333 Enterprise St. Unit C;
Ocoee, FL 34761

Let us know if we may record your name with the contribution to be given to the family.

We thank everyone in advance for their consideration and ask that you keep Kevin's struggle in your thoughts and prayers.

-- Dennis Hooker
