Re: California Aikiweb meet-up!?

It's a cost vs. local vs. attendance problem

Aikido Of Diablo Valley in Concord has been brought up, and it's more Northern

Aikido of Fresno which is Central

Senshin center which is Southern

We need to get a rough idea of how many people would like to attend and geographically what school best works out. Right now it sounds like a northern local might work best. What is the cost of using Aikido Of Diablo Valley in Concord?

Re: California Aikiweb meet-up!?

Well for ADV, I haven't checked with Rick Sensei yet but once I have an idea of the date I can get a confirmation from him and I am sure he will give it. There would be no cost to use the dojo.

Will Concord be too far for the SoCal folks?

Re: California Aikiweb meet-up!?

Concord isn't necessarily a matter of far for me. I travel there quite frequently in fact. Concord is sort of "out of the way" and an pretty expensive place to stay generally. That isn't an issue for me as I have family in Clayton and I would be shot if I didn't stay with them when in the area. I do know a great BBQ joint there though......

Re: California Aikiweb meet-up!?

Wondering if there are other No or So Cal folks who haven't weighed in yet but for whom location (Concord vs Fresno vs Sta Barbara) would be a or THE major deciding factor on being able to attend/participate in a one or one and a half day informal event?

Re: California Aikiweb meet-up!?

Well the offer to use our Concord dojo holds but can only be for sure once we have a date nailed down.

Thanks Bruce

Re: California Aikiweb meet-up!?

So: are there SoCal folks for whom Concord is too far north to be tenable?
Is Labor Day weekend good by virtue of being a 3 day weekend OR is it lousy because of family obligations?
If Labor Day is lousy for a lot of folks, how are the wkends Of Sept 10 or 17 for folks?
Figuring there are folks offline w/ this wkend being a holiday, I'll rebump as needed ....

Re: California Aikiweb meet-up!?

Labor day weekend sounds best to me. Let's do a quick check-in and see who might be coming.

If you're reading this thread, and want to come give a:
"yes" And say either: "North" "Central" or "South"

In a week or so we should have a good idea of how many people will come and where the majority of them are coming from. I'd be okay with Concord. If there are more Norcal people coming that would be a better choice.

So for me:

Yes; Central

I'm in the bay area, but flexible with location. Certainly Concord is easy. Labor Day weekend seems fine.

Re: California Aikiweb meet-up!?

I'm gonna need to sell blood to pay my gas bill! The big Japanese sword show is in SF in the middle of August and Concord on Labor Day. Ah, the kids are too fat anyway and I'll just stop feeding them for a while.

So Concord on Labor day weekend. Sounds good. Who's in charge of making sure the Dojo there can be used, and the details of using it?

Good plan! Is that bridge still there in Petaluma? Maybe we could camp under it.

Re: California Aikiweb meet-up!?

Hum, I think the getting the dojo in Concord is me. So Labor
3rd, Sunday the 4th and Monday the 5th or Just Monday?

Let me know the days preference and I'll ask permission to use the dojo. I've already got a preliminary ok.

Note that since no cost I will invite any of or ADV students that want to attend.

thanks
Bruce

Bruce, is Aman Dhillon training with you at ADV? If so, tell him that it's a command performance!
