Animated avatars?

Why is it that whenever I try to link to or upload an animated avatar it states that they are not allowed? I have seen animated avatars used here on the forum.

Re: Animated avatars?

Hi Erik,

There is no restriction on an avatar image due to whether it is animated or not. Perhaps the avatar image you are trying to upload is too large?

Re: Animated avatars?

I can upload it, but no matter if I host it here or elsewhere it is not animated.
