Roy Goldberg Sensei Daito Ryu Aikijujutsu Seminar
Please join us for our Spring 2017 Seminar and the honor of welcoming Roy Goldberg Sensei back to Grand Rapids for a weekend of intense practice! This event is open to all martial artists and schools.
Roy Goldberg Sensei is the East Coast representative of the Daito Ryu Kodokai and Senior student of Kiyama Hayawo Shihan. Sensei has been awarded the Daito Ryu Aikijujutsu Kodokai Rank of 7th Dan. He is the highest-ranking non-Japanese to earn this rank from Kodokai Hombu Dojo (Kitami, Japan), which also certi-fied him with the rare Kyoju Dairi (representative instructor) teaching license and the third Daito Ryu scroll, the Hiden Ogi. Goldberg Sensei has trained over 3 decades with Kiyama Hayawo Shihan and the leading Shihan from Japan including two Menkyo Kaiden.
Daito Ryu Aikijujutsu is a 1,200-year-old samurai martial art. It has directly influenced the development of many popular martial arts, such as Aikido, Shorinji Kempo, Hakko Ryu Jujutsu and Hapkido.
Daito Ryu's core principles and focus on subtle manipulations of balance will complement and enrich any martial arts training. Once a secret art, passed generation to generation through the Takeda clan, the system of Daito Ryu Aiki Ju-jutsu was revived in the late 19th century by Sokaku Takeda, 32nd in line of the Takeda family.
Schedule: Saturday and Sunday classes will go from 11AM to 4PM. There will be a brief 15-20 minute break for snacks and refreshments.
