Nakamura Ryu and Edo Mugai

Alaska Yoshinkan Aikido Kobudo had the chance to host Yoshitaka Nomura from Yokohama Japan.
Nomura Sensei has studied Hakko Ryu, and Yoshinkan Aikido under Kiyoyuki Terada Shihan, although are gasshuku was mostly Battodo and Mugai Ryu we did have chance to have an embu.
Surprisingly the many styles of Daito Ryu and how similar to Aikido they can be and not all have the Hiden Mokuroku, it has been said that at one time Daito Ryu looked like what Yoshinkan Aikido is today.
Nakamura Taizaburo Sensei - Nakamura Ryu Battodo is said to have enjoyed watching Morihei Ueshiba.

Nomura Sensei:
Daito Ryu Nihonden Aikijujutsu
Aikijujutsu Kyoju Dairi
Kyoshi Nakamura Ryu Battodo
Kyoshi Edo Mugai Ryu Iaihyodo

Alaska Yoshinkan Aikido Kobudo
Edo Mugai Ryu Iaihyodo Branch Dojo
Nakamura Battodo Dokokai

Re: Nakamura Ryu and Edo Mugai

What Daito ryu lineage is he a part of?

The Hiden Mokuroku was apparently organized by Tokimune, and the Takumakai adopted his reorganization of it. But I understand the original body of techniques are found in other branches.

I think Yoshinkan Aikido is considered to be the most formal Aikido style, so it makes a lot of sense that there would be a resemblance between it and any of the harder Daito ryu lineages.
