I'd like advice on how to repair attain Swain & Zebra mats (both similar green mats) that have had the glue deteriorate b/c of time & temperature extremes in a garage dojo. The glue that attaches the grippy bottom part to the rest of the mat needs to be redone. What is the best adhesive and procedure to repair this?
The Zebra mats folks recommend 3M 77 Spray Adhesive (available in most big box stores) when trimming the mats to custom sizes. I did that and it works pretty well as long as there is weight on the glue joint. Using it to glue the bottom vinyl back on should work fine.
Actually, I saw VLP on those sites you mentioned and that seems best for repairing tears in the vinyl so it seems the 3m 77 spray will be the best bet to re-adhere the grippy layer to the bottom of the mats.
