Introduce myself-- Jim Grodzins

Hello dear friends,

has anyone worked on a linage tree for aikidoists?

I have been thinking of an 'application' database, that one could trace someone's aikido linage.

The problem could be looked at from the beginning, forward in time (down the linage) tracing of someone's journey on the Tao.

Or from the current place in time. Tracing backward in time (up the linage).

We need several 'tables' - Dojo - Person - Dojo Era- Person Era-...etc.

Any way, I have been in the Path of Aiki since first studying Japanese culture in 1973-74 in Kyoto, Japan. Then moved back to Chicago - met Joseph Jarman and with Hiroshi Tajiri studied under Fumio Toyoda in 1974.

Then moved to Santa Cruz CA. Continued studies from 1974-80; under Greg Brodsky, Stan Pranin, Mary Heiny, Linda Holiday, and Jack Wada. With guest senseis; Frank Droan, Robert Nadeau, Robert Frager, Terry Dobson--who all studied under O'sensei in Japan in the 1960's.

Stopped active training after starting my family with Cathy Oda Grodzins. Then, after twenty-seven year hiatus, came back to the tatami back in Chicago-- with Stephen Toyoda. Received Sho-dan in 2011 and then ni-dan.

Peace and good energy to all,

Jim Grodzins

Hi and welcome, Jim. Stanley Pranin had a chart of the students of O Sensei; this seems to be a good place to start with a lineage chart. I am not sure that all Aikido students would want to be placed on a list.

Hi Steve,

thanks for the welcome of my introduction message-- you have a famous teacher over there in the island? I would like to put her in my database, for sure.
