YouTube: Hiroshi Tada Shihan - Rare Aikido Demonstration (1957)
Here is a historical video of Hiroshi Tada (9th dan, Aikikai) demonstrating in 1957. The film, courtesy of Guillaume Erard, was part of André Nocquet's private 8 mm collection. Tada, born in 1929, started training with Morihei Ueshiba in 1948.

What are your thoughts on this video?

Hi Jun,
Tada Sensei has always been a favourite aikidoka of mine.Even at an advanced age he really displays powerful effective waza.Nice to see him iin earlier times.Great vid.The other vids are also excellent. As one would expect the O Sensei vid is superb. The Jo work in slow motion in particular is a classic vid.Keep up the good work.Lets have more of the same.Cheers, Joe
Ps I have tons of aikido stuff , however I do not know how to post it on the forum.
So slightly different techniques (Yonkyo vs Ikkyo), but the initial (common) timing and coordination of the contact puts Tada sensei ahead in my book....
