Article: "At nearly 80, he earns his black belt in Aikido"

Posted 2015-03-25 07:23:04 by Jun Akiyama
News URL: http://www.philly.com/philly/news/br...in_Aikido.html

Here's an aikido article entitled "At nearly 80, he earns his black belt in Aikido" which highlights Bob O'Hare who recently took his shodan exam for his 80th birthday.

From the article: "It's a good feeling to work out and stretch and use your body and roll around," he said. "When I spend an hour and a half at the dojo for a training session, I will be thrown to the ground 100 times and get up. And I will throw someone else to the ground 100 times, and they will get up. This ability to work together and feel myself active, with somebody, it's a good feeling, and at the end of it, it's not like, 'Wow, what a workout.' It's more like, 'That was wonderful. And calming.' "

I saw an older gentlemen one day in a health club. His tee shirt read: "Things get better with age. I'm approaching magnificent".
I'll bet Bob would agree wit that.

We can all hop e to move so well at 80! Congratulations and well done.

I find it interesting that the kanji character for kuzushi illustrates a mountain falling on a house.
