Dude, print out this thread and stick it in a drawer. Then train aikido for a month and look at it again. Instant comedy.

Yes, do it.
You won't regret it.

There was a fella at our club had a special face for joint locks, a special awful grimace. You just had to grip him and look like locking his wrist and he'd do the grimace ... it was hilarious. Like a pavlov dog.

Hehe, that's like asking if in kendo you get to hit people in the head and scream whilst doing so.

have fun, and the sooner you learn the wrist warmups, the sooner you'll be able to forget your most recent nikyo.

I've not taken Boxing yet so i am still doing my homework. I want to know if Boxing has punches and stuff. All I've seen in videos are people prancing around in mittens doing some kind of interpretive dance.

Yes Aikido has such techniques. I hope the sarcastic responses received from your question don't keep you from learning more about Aikido and perhaps finding a school in which to train. It's a wonderful martial art with many kind and talented practitioners.

What would you expect from someone whose other thread he started is titled: Is aikido for wusses? What would be next?

Actually, I must say, Boon and Edward, the original poster's writing seems perfectly sincere in his questions.

Re: does aikido have arm and wrist locks?

Now for the annoying it depends statement...

simply put, yes, aikido has multiple joint locks in it's syllabus. however, there are some groups who do joint-locks more than others... there are some people who would argue that techniques are done solely by getting a joint lock, then putting the pain on until the guy jumps. there are some groups who kinda approach the opposite end and say if a lock happens, great, that's one more tool to use but neither depend on them or actively seek them. but those are the two extremes

for a gross overstatement, I'd say the majority of the aikido world does use joint locks as a major portion of their practice.
