Cindy I think you are quite right in saying that Sugano Shihan would not sponsor this type of Behaviour. It is I think an entirely Australian thing.
Though Aikido training in Australia is not all Politics and no fun. We have trained with Iwama, Yoshinkan, Kokikai, and even a few Aikikai Dojo's and we recently held a Friendship Seminar where we had 70+ Aikidoka come and train with us from around Australia even a Jujutsu Guy from Western Australia.
So it it is not all bad here in the great south land.
